Ceox sponsors up-and-coming engineers
At Ceox we look to support local initiatives that align with our way of thinking. We feel strongly about the importance of protecting our environment for the future and encouraging the development of the engineering sector. So, when we were approached by the Ashcombe School to support their electric go-kart team, it just felt like a natural fit.
The Ashcombe School works in partnership with the Greenpower Education Trust, to enable students to learn about the importance of renewable energy, alongside gaining science, technology, and engineering skills as they design, build and then ultimately race an electric go-kart.
The Ashcombe School team, comprised of year 9 & 10 students have been working since the start of the academic year to learn the skills and then implement what is needed to get their kart to the start line.
On Sunday 25th February, all their hard work paid off, as they rolled their kart off the trailer and to the start line of the Goodwood racetrack for their first shakedown of the season. The day brought with it some challenges that the students had to overcome, one student said ‘’We found the bodywork needed a bit of adjustment after our first few laps, but nothing that a few pieces of gaffa tape could not fix once the car was back in pits. Today has been so much fun and I have enjoyed both the experience of building the car and then testing it today’.’
We are delighted that the team's first test has gone so well and we look forward to hearing more about how they progress over the season and wish them well in their first race.
