Ceox 2021 Covid-19 Graduate Training Programme delivers

Since the emergence of Covid-19 there has been much debate about the hidden impact of the Pandemic. One of the hardest hit areas was Further Education and the potential disruption on Pandemic Graduates. So in 2021 Ceox embarked on its first Graduate Training Programme designed to provide opportunity for recent graduates to start their career in a stimulating sector and supported by training, mentorship and critical office time.

January 2022 saw the culmination of Ceox’s first graduate programme for developers and technical consultants.  2021’s intake were selected from hundreds of impressive applicants.  This years successful applicants were graduates in a range of subjects including Mathematics and Economics, Physics and Computer Science.

The 2021 programme included a wide range of learning, assignments and courses including:

  • Ceox objectives, ethos, products and service offers with a focus on Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365,

  • Wide ranging business skills including customer engagement, presentation and consulting,

  • Completing security clearances and training,

  • Familiarisation with the Ceox technical environment and ways of working including Agile Development Methodology, ITIL Service Management, DevOps, UX and the GDS Service Standard.

These sessions were underpinned by online learning focusing on Microsoft Certifications in the graduates specialist areas including Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics365 and a week long external software development course.

Aware of the benefits of the graduates being in the office to understand the environment and pick up knowledge and experience from working closely with others, Ceox focused on the programme being based in the Shalford Head Office as much as possible. The office and virtual combination were finely balanced to provide a supportive and healthy environment for learning.

The final phase of the course saw the graduates work together in an Agile development environment. They utilised their new skills within Microsoft Power Platform to develop the Ceox Awareness Training System (CATS) within four sprints. This application enables managers to create, issue and manage assessments that centre around critical capabilities staff need to perform and understand. Key features implemented were:

  • Canvas App:

    • This allowed for smooth navigation throughout different areas of the app and a highly customizable interface to replicate Ceox themes and branding.

    • The team implemented functionality into the canvas app to manipulate all data within one central location.

    • The graduates created galleries in the app which highlight statuses for assessments, such as "passed", "failed" and "not started".

  • Power Automate:

    • Flows were created to automatically send emails to notify and remind users on the scheduling of assessments and inform managers.

    • Flows ensured the addition of new users to active assessments and automated the removal of leavers information.

The graduates are now all part of multi-functional teams, with assigned mentors and are actively engaged on customer engagements.  Gavin Harte, CTO at Ceox stated, “We are delighted with the programme. Despite the challenges of the Pandemic the whole Ceox team has played their part in making the new joiners welcome.  To see the graduates playing their part in delivery and engaging with customer’s makes the effort and hard work worthwhile”.
