Does Your Team Know the Desired Outcome?

One of the key factors to success in an Agile project is having a shared vision.  When we engage with organisations we always advise them to share their desired outcome.  Often, if a Government Department, Agency, Public Body or Housing Association is going through a Digital Transformation programme, the desired outcome is improved customer satisfaction and reduced cost per unit.  These are worthwhile outcomes and we’d encourage the Chief Executive to make sure the whole organisation knows the outcome.

At a project level, we encourage the team to create a Vision Statement which encapsulates the outcome for the project.  The vision should state why the team are building what they’re building.  This can often be used to help decisions with the Product Owner over functionality by asking themselves the question “Does this functionality help us meet our vision?”  By concentrating on the vision, teams can deliver a system which meets the needs of the user for less money.

Ceox can provide IT Project Managers highly skilled in facilitating Agile teams to help Government Departments, Agencies, Public Bodies or Housing Associations deliver projects which meet their desired outcome.
